Surf City LP.... finally

I have been waiting for this to come out for 3 years (since i got their EP). As my wife can attend, I listen to the 5 song EP all the time. She would probably say something like "too much". The fact in the band is from New Zealand so we are a little behind on news about them. I got a little surprise in my email today saying that the Album is finally released. They have been talking about for the last couple years (since the US started to notice them). I hope it's in america soon so i don't have to order it again.

FROM MY EMAIL
"New York’s Oh My Rockness magazine wrote at the end of 2009 “New Zealand's Surf City are getting such big buzz that the hype has made its way halfway around the world”…and they weren’t alone with these thoughts: Brooklyn Vegan – probably the most influential blog in the US - added that Surf City were “easily one of the most-anticipated bands of CMJ 2009”

But despite this obvious excitement, Surf City are not just flash in the pan new kids. Formed in Auckland’s Mt Roskill, they’ve been making a racket around the garages and practice rooms since 2004. Locally, it wasn’t long before they were filling the basement bars and urban hang outs with their warm fuzzed up and strummed down frenetic tones.

In 2007 their debut EP was released on Arch Hill Recordings in New Zealand and Popfrenzy in Australia. A year later, after the EP had travelled in it’s own way around the world, it was released in Europe and the US on Morr Music from Germany.

Between touring the USA twice and Australia numerous times the band have come up trumps with an excellent longplayer. It is called Kudos. The album was recorded over the last year and a half mostly in bedrooms, basements and occasionally the old Arch Hill studios. Mostly it was recorded and mixed by themselves. We think it’s a great album."
