BEST OF 2010

As we reach the end of another year it is customary that I inject you all with what I though was the best of the year. There is no order and it is mainly the things I can remember now. I'm sure if I gave it more thought they might be different.

Movies:
- Wall Street 2
- Inception
- Solitary Man
- I'm Still Here (anyone who has seen it will agree)

Music (albums)
- Brandon Flowers - Flamingo
- Black Keys - Brothers
- Beach House - Teen Dream
Honorable Mention
- Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Songs
- Us Royalty - Equestrian
- Surf City - crazy rulers of the world
- Black Keys - She's long gone
- Brandon Flowers - Magdalena

Tv Shows
- The Today Show
- Modern Family
- Conan (watching it online the next day)

Accomplishments
- Actually keeping a new years resolution. No soda in 2010 (except for a sip of root beer on my birthday.... sorry Justin beat you to it)
- Getting my Associates Degree then getting right into the university of Utah and moving on to the next thing.
- Buying a House.... well it's a condo.
- Shooting a gun (I know I know, I have gone a little over kill with the gun thing.)

This last year was an eventful one to say the least, if you have been following my blog you know that. 2011 is sounding like it will be a good one for music, there are a few albums that are coming out that I have been looking forward too (cut copy, US royalty, the strokes). Have a safe New Years, if you drink and drive, stay in west valley.

Levis' VS. Hamburger eyes.

What a cool idea. Levis has really found it's niche over the last few years.

Manly stuff for Christmas

For the second year in a row the Deweys and I have done something manly for christmas. Last year, if you remember, we built a snow cave this year was no different. We drove out west and shot some guns. I have never shot a gun before, which is not much of a surprise.

Merry Christmas.

twelve days of christmas DAY 3-12

so, it only took me two days until I missed one. For this post I will forgo the risk of missing a day and just post the rest of the 12 days of christmas.

Day 3 - Macbook Pro

I last laptop I bought was an iBook G4 back in 2005...or maybe end of 2004. Anyway, I think it's time for an upgrade.

Day 4 - A statue
I have always wanted to have a really nice statue in my front yard. Something like this would be nice (I guess I need a yard first)

Day 5 - HD projector.
We have the perfect wall and perfect place to mount it.

Day 6 - Lasik
Obviously

Day 7 - Boots
Something like these but with a pointier toe, different leather, and maybe a side zipper instead of a strap... okay so nothing like these.

Day 8 - Job at TWA/Chiat/Day
One of these days I should start my career.

Day 9 - Nokia Phone
I miss when phones were like this.

Day 10 - timex easy reader
Cheap and timeless.

Day 11 - baseball shirt
In the past I have always looked bad in these, maybe it's time to give it another chance.

Day 12 - vintage globe
One of these in the office or family room is always a perfect addition.

Merry Christmas

twelve days of christmas DAY 1

There are 12 days until christmas (depending what day you end on).

I like waiting until everyone is done shopping to post what i want for christmas. The reason I wait is because i don't like knowing what I am going to get. I am still very childish with the surprise and mystery of christmas.

11 more to come.

another bathroom stall

You can always count on the University to have entertaining messages written on the stalls in the restroom. You can also always count on me to take a crappy photo with my cell phone.

VS fashion show

My mom and I had an annual tradition of watching the Victoria's Secret fashion show together. I have not lived at home for a few years now but that hasn't stopped me from watching it every year. My wife and I carry on the tradition proudly.

"stay thirsty my friends"

Josh sent me a link to one of these videos and I spent the next 10 minutes looking at all the other videos. Turns out there is one video that has all of them together. Thanks Josh, you're welcome readers.

...canada

In response to yesterdays post, my mom wanted to prove that some canada doesn't look like a scene from empire strikes back. This is picture of what her front yard looks like right now (well yesterday actually)

nearly all my family has contributed to the blog this week, interesting.

advertising greatest hits

This post is going to be a little picture heavy.

As some of you may know, I have always been a fan of advertising. Even in the days of ipad and all that digital stuff, I prefer grabbing a magazine and flipping through the ads. Nothing is better than a well delivered message. I am currently over halfway through my degree in marketing so now i can say there is a level of "work" involved in reading magazines. I know that last statement is a stretch, anyway, my dad forwarded me some great accomplishments in printed advertising. For the record I have no problem with any of these ads. I believe, the point of a good ad is to conjure up some sort of emotion. Even if you find the ad offensive, you can't help but remember it... that's a win for the company.

This one is for R.Kelly

ps. and about being effective, the Coke ad with the baby has stood the test of time. During black friday I saw a little kid sharing a coke with their mom at 9AM. That is early on two different levels. God bless america.
