Tonys Taste of Philly

A friend of mine that I worked with at my last job, quit and his family started a Cheese Steak place here in Utah. A couple friends (all from my last job) drove over and gave him a surprise visit. The claim is that this is some authentic Philly cheese steak place with ingredients straight from Philly. I have never been to Philly but i have a a couple cheese steaks in my day. These ones were legit to say the least. Served fast and hot, made right in front of you. It was worth every penny, which was not too much at all. $5.50 for the original, $6.50 for the others. Good vibes, good food and Dome Hockey. Check it out. Thanks Anthony

I've had it and it was OK, no reason to go out of your way to get it. They are WAY to greasy and the buns just seem cheap. I've seen better cheesesteaks in Utah.

Wow picky much. You can go to a five star if you feel that way. Wow the balls some people think they have.

I went their for lunch on Friday, and I was very surprised. They were really good. I will definetly stop by when I am in the area again.
It must of been an off day when you ate their Karen, cause the sandwich I had was not that greasy.. I mean its steak for goodness sake, its going to be a little greasy right? Oh and by the way, those "Cheap" roles, are actually called "Amoroso" rolls. And every cheesesteak shop back east uses them.. That's what makes their cheesesteak Authentic. :) But you are entitled to your opinion, and I respect that. I just thing you need to keep an open mind, dont dwell on the Utah cheesesteaks you have had before.

Hi five! I love cheesesteaks and enjoyed my Tonys experience, Ill be back when Im in the area. However, I will challenge the statement made about every steak shop back east using Amorosos rolls. The best rolls are Liscios! (though I do love me an Amoroso)Pat's for one uses liscio as does Tony Lukes and Tony Lukes are the bomb. In fact, last time I was in Philly the only place I went to that was still using Amoroso was Jims, but I guess I'm only looking at the big boys, maybe more small shops use Amoroso than I'm aware of. Either way, good job.

Very good! I stand corrected. :) You are correct, Liscios rolls are also very popular, and used by some of the big names of Philly cheesesteaks. But majority of the smaller shops (Ma & Pa shops) do use Amoroso rolls, also in my opinion they make some of the best sandwiches. Although, everytime I am back in Philly I will enjoy a steak sandwich from Geno's or Pat's from time to time! :)
