BEST OF 2009!!!

I know how much you (all 3 of you) enjoy reading my opinions every so often on this very self centered blog. In keeping with the tradition of narcissism, I bring you the 2nd annual Year's Best... actually top 3.

2. Passion Pit - Manners
3. Devendra Banhart - What Will We Be
honorable mention: Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

SONGS
1. Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks (fredfalke remix)
2. Julian Casablancas - 11th dimention
3. Animal Collective - in the flowers

MOVIES
1. Taken
2. The Hangover
3. I love you, man

TV SHOWS
1. the Hills (always tops the list)
2. Project Runway
3. School of Surf

CONCERTS
1. The Killers
2. Passion Pit
3. The Black Keys
honorable mention: Finally seeing Q-tip after all these years.

GUILTY PLEASURES
1. Lady Gaga
2. Jersey Shore (TV show)
3. Playing Wii and actually liking it.

That's all I got for now, I guess after a whole year I forget all the things I "loved" (i tend to change my mind A LOT). Whether it was for a short time or the whole year, there was a lot of good stuff that happened. If you have been following this blog then you already knew that.

polaROIDS from the trip

Here are some polaROIDS from our trip. Camera broke but was able to keep it together to get a couple photos's. Click on them to make them bigger.

This is on the way down to california, it's what i used to think america was before i moved here.... not much has changed in my mind.

my lovely wife, actually smiling.

outside my favourite art show to date.

this is the changing room at supreme

Chad Muska's supra and Kr3w shop.

Also went to Family books, that place is awesome. The photo wasn't so awesome so i won't post it... actually none of the pictures are that awesome... oh well too late.

after seeing beautiful trees, landscaping, the ocean and just all around cleanness, it thought is was funny that they labeled this "breathtaking"

Trip was fun, lucky for me my in laws are rad and my wife puts up with art galleries and me spending hours in book stores. Thank you.

how rude

I just thought of how rude it was for me to leave on vacation and not inform all 3 of you blog followers. Expect a semi decent post on my return next week. This our first lengthy vacation in a while. I guess i'll give a hint on our whereabouts, we saw a really fabulous art show yesterday.

saturday morning

While looking through this book, and listening to this band, I started to get that feeling where i think i have some artistic talent. I quickly made these little "sketches" before i forgot my AWESOME ideas.

They all have a personal meaning that I don't think makes sense... I'm most likely not as funny as I think I am. To me the dialog between the eggs is hilarious.

I can't wait to see this one... I guess this genre of films is another guilty pleasure I don't, but maybe should, feel guilty about.

Trying to find a picture to post, I realized my style may have changed a lot through out the years. Even though I have gone through many different styles, I seam to be back at the beginning.

Celebs + bad timing = funny

While flipping through my latest GQ, I came across this add. It's not a bad add, it's just bad timing that makes it funny. Here is why. It's rather funny that the add comes out with him being the face of integrity in the midst of a sex scandal. At least it wasn't Tiger Woods....

hungry like a wolf

I forgot about wolfmother until my itunes "party mix" played a tune of their new album. Pretty solid.

reaching the end

Tomorrow is the first day of December. Making the end of November, near end of the year, rent is due, christmas will be all over the place, and "best of 2009" list for everything. I am working on my list right now BTW, that's "by the way" the way the cool kids say it... maybe. This December is going to be a gnarly one. We are planning on trips to see both families while still having christmas day all by ourselves. Sounds like a hybrid of Ebenezer Scrooge and the movie four Christmases. I think we may be able to pull it off. Just to get a head start we put up our Huge tree.

Yo riley,

If your interested here's a link to a video I made of one of my friends watching the Real Madrid vs Barcelona....I think you'll be bummed to hear C. Ronaldo and his boys lost 2-0. I i remember a quote of you saying "I don't think i would fan out on anybody, except if I saw C. Ronaldo." If you decide to guest post it, make sure you mention that quote, or if you remember exactly how you said it, correct it.

useless update

This is the first time I have gone a week without posting in a long time. In laws were in town, thanksgiving and the internet in our apartment was down. To make clear the seriousness of the internet situation... I just now watched Tuesdays episode of the The Hills. Thanksgiving was legit, lots of great food, shopping and time to relax.

oh yeah, saw a dope bike at the apple store... well outside the apple store, just to clarify.

one of those days

Today has been one of those days where, I'm sure my wife has gotten annoyed with the fact, I have been listening to the same artist all day. In her credit, she rarely complains and actually enjoys most of the music I listen to.

re-locate

over the weekend my wife and I moved. It may have been only a block south from our previous location, but it seems like a whole other world... sorry for that last statement, can you tell I've been unpacking for the last few days? Our new space is a lot older and a lot more awesome. It has more space to create things, so maybe all those projects I have started in my head may actually get started for real... probably not.

Surfer Blood

First it was Surf City now it's Surfer Blood. I tend to like bands with surf in the title. Contrary to my first statement, it's still Surf City. They are, and have been, my favourite band for over a year. It's the only 6 song ep i have never gotten tired of. Anyway.... back to surfer blood. This video is, obviously, really mellow.

halloween aka worst fashion day ever

Every year for halloween, and the weeks leading up to it, I find myself more and more amazed at the the variety of clothes people get away with wearing on halloween. It's all in the name of a fun. You get your typical clown, urban kid dressed as a cowboy and the costume of the year. Last year was the joker from dark knight, this year wild things....anyway. The point is those are okay costumes. There is, however, this redicouslous "i can get away with anything" attitude. You can't take a respectable uniform, such as a doctors outfit and cut a crotch length skirt and make the shirt have a belly button neckline and call it a costume. That is trashy and handing out free candy to kids is creepy... on everyday other than good old halloween.

my sister sent me this photo a few weeks ago, I was waiting for the right time to post it. You cannot see the high heal clogs or the fact that the pants are satin. If this picture was taken on saturday it would not be so funny, it would just be a lame costume.

The only thing worth going to school at 7 Am two times a week.

Lazy and The Lark

I'm a little behind on my blogging. I don't plug in my camera obscura enough to my computer. Last week was the first Lazy and The Lark show. It was at muse music in provo and it was an open mic night... does that count as a show? If it counts than they were headlining it. after they played it was over.

skateboarders skateboarding

It's been a while since I have posted skateboarders actually skateboarding. I guess these days it's the people not the skateboarding that is interesting to me. That was until my pal Nick posted this part on his facespace.com. It's been a while since i saw a part that was worth talking about. This part has everything. I dare you not to like it.

the best gifts can't be bought.

It was my wife's birthday yesterday and I got her (and myself) some new zuriicks. After her subtle hints for months I got her a Wii. It was another one of those dad moments... It was weird spending that kind of money on some toy I don't want... Thanks dad for the nintendo back in the day. Anyway, back to the point. Roxy, our friend, painted a portrait of us for her. It wins the best gift award.

side note, that picture was our first together after we got engaged.

Tonys Taste of Philly

A friend of mine that I worked with at my last job, quit and his family started a Cheese Steak place here in Utah. A couple friends (all from my last job) drove over and gave him a surprise visit. The claim is that this is some authentic Philly cheese steak place with ingredients straight from Philly. I have never been to Philly but i have a a couple cheese steaks in my day. These ones were legit to say the least. Served fast and hot, made right in front of you. It was worth every penny, which was not too much at all. $5.50 for the original, $6.50 for the others. Good vibes, good food and Dome Hockey. Check it out. Thanks Anthony

side projects are the new black

Seems like everybody in every band is doing a side project. So many lead singers are doing solo albums that sound exactly the same as their bands album (except less money to split). Here is something a little different... or maybe not at all. It's a a side project from the drummer from the Black Keys. They are called drummer. The twist is that he plays the bass, and I guess everyone else in the band are drummers from other bands...sorry that was a lot of the word "band" and "drummer".

grass

I'm trying to get as much grass time in as possible before the snow comes down.

sorry, a little post happy today.

killer grips bro

When my dad was in town last week (it's been a while since i plugged in my camera). He asked "what do you want me to bring from Canada?" Usually it's a pack of smarties or some eatmore candy bars. This time I asked for some hockey tape. I'm sure I could find some here but this was it's a little more authentic. To pay homage to the country that raised me, I made my handle bars like the end of a hockey stick. Pretty awesome huh? thought so. I think it's original, well at least I have not seen anyone else with it.

it doesn't add too much comfort but I do feel a lot more awesome.

at work today

At work today this little guy was used to pay for a bag of Doritos and a pack of bubble gum. When the kid passed it to me I said "can't believe your giving up this gem." He had no clue what I was talking about.... to bad for him.
